Introducing Kuponan: eBay Philippines’ Group Buying Website

A lot of group buying websites in the Philippines have emerged like mushrooms. Every now and then, from left to right, you see deals about food and drinks, health and beauty, travel and tours, and even gadgets and other products.

One caught my attention. I didn’t know eBay has a group buying site, too. They call it “kuponan,” which might be a Filipino word for coupons. The eBay Kuponan works under the bulk buying concept where a deal becomes active when a certain number of buyers agreed to avail a product or service.

A wide variety of deals is available on Kuponan, from health and beauty to food to travel. Original prices of available deals are cut down from 30% to 80% off! So, for example, a set menu in a particular restaurant originally costs Php600, on the group buying site, you can only get it for Php300, if the deal is given at 50% off. Imagine, that’s really a good buy!
